Homecoming

Argh! Well, hey. I'm so dumb. I have a ton of homework and I keep post-poning it. And well, my cross country practice is a long time, so I get home late and don't have a lot of time to do it anyway! I'm such a dummy. Okay. I'm not. I'm really not. I'm smart. I am sometimes just not as responsible as I would like to be. Or need to be. Ehh...

So, homecoming. My school has it early every year, so tickets are now on sale. I have this guy I want to ask. He's one of my few guy friends, but we're not real close. He thinks I have a crush on him, so I'm sure he'll say no. And it sucks because I don't have a crush on him. I used to, but not anymore. I'll still ask, but I don't have time to, and I don't want to call him late at night. I might end up going with a different guy friend. I don't know. I need a dress too, now that I think about it.

My cousin, Keith, is a genius. He really is. He's 24 and out of college, but he lives with parents. But he really is a genius. He can remember things easily, and grasps concepts, and he's really deep. And everyone asks, why does he still live with his parents then? Because he doesn't apply himself. And that kills me. My entire extende wants to strangle him for it. He could do anything, be anything, and he chooses to do nothing. I swear it is the most irritating thing in the world. I really admire him. I really do. But I also slightly hate him for doing nothing. I really want to beat him. I want to be more successful, even there's more than one way to measure success. He teaches me a lot of cool things, and he really gets my brain-cogs turning. He wants to be a writer. And he could if he wanted to. He'll have a great plot, and his actual writing is amazing, but he won't finish. He never finishes. And our family wants to beat him for it.

Keith is the closest thing I have to a big brother. I'm the oldest in my family, and I respect him. He respects me as well, so that's part of why I like him. He's dangerous though. He crosses the street-and makes me cross after him- when the light's still red. He swears a lot. And I don't think someone who doesn't even apply himself is a very good role model. But oh well...
